Packing and Crating a Priceless Painting

Oil on Canvas, and other fine paintings of great value need to be handled with the utmost of care. We recently packed this fine work of art—valued at $30,000—for one of our customers and shipped it to Santa Fe.

We carefully wrapped the entire piece in foam wrap, then wrapped it in 1/2″ bubble wrap and covered with a sandwich of double-wall corrugated cardboard. We then built a custom crate lined with 2″ styrofoam to the exact size of the painting. We placed the painting and the final piece of styrofoam on top and secured the lid with screws for shipping.

Upon arriving safely at its destination, we received the following testimonial from our long-time customer:

Howdy PakMailians, A note of thanks for the great job of packing and shipping this painting. Thanks to your excellent work the painting arrived at its destination unharmed, on time, and at the agreed price. Very pleased!Leigh P.

Packing and Crating a Grandfather Clock

Grandfather clocks—particularly antiques—present a unique challenge to pack and ship properly. Many of the clock’s mechanisms, including weights, the pendulum, and movements have to be removed and/or secured to ensure their safety during shipment.

After everything has been secured in the clock, we then pack the inside with peanuts and other fill in plastic bags to provide rigidity and glass protection.

Once protected, we then wrap the clock in furniture wrap to protect the wood from any scratches and damage.

We then build a custom crate lined with 2″ styrofoam to the exact size of the clock and its components.

Next, we carefully place the clock and its components inside the crate and complete the packing process, filling any void with peanuts before placing the final piece of styrofoam on top and securing the lid with screws for shipping.

We then ship the clock via one of our preferred “less than truckload” (LTL) shippers to get it safely to its destination.
